As approval nears for the expanded eligibility of the COVID vaccine for children less than 12 years of age, our office has received an increase in calls from parents and caregivers asking for our opinion on immunizing their children. We are happy to share our thoughts.
Center City Pediatrics remains a vaccinating practice, and the COVID-19 vaccine is no different. As such, we strongly encourage all eligible children to receive the recommended immunization as soon as it becomes available to them. The science is clear. Vaccines present the best way to keep ourselves and our community safe as this pandemic continues.
In preparation for the FDA and CDC announcements, we have connected with the Philadelphia Health Department to assess the opportunity for our office to receive doses for our patients. We will continue to explore this possibility in the hope that we will in the coming months participate as a vaccination site for these younger children.
Regardless of where your child ultimately receives the shot, the important thing is that they DO receive it. We will of course communicate developments in our status and will also share resources for alternative vaccination sites in our area as information becomes available. Keep an eye on your inbox and our Facebook pages for announcements and updates.
In health,
Center City Pediatrics
