Diana Karnilaw has been a board-certified pediatric primary care nurse practitioner for more than 6 years. She completed her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Diana was born and raised in the great state of Minnesota. Initially she attended the University of Denver where she received a BA in biology, psychology, and international health. After her first bachelor’s degree, she did a year of AmeriCorps at an underserved community health center in the Hudson Valley – this is where she took the role as a health educator in the pediatric department and fell in love with helping kids create lifelong healthy habits. Diana then returned to school, this time for nursing. She attended NYU’s accelerated BSN program and then took a job as an adult kidney transplant RN – at which point she REALLY realized how much more she loved working with kids.
After completing her master’s in pediatrics in Philadelphia, Diana moved to back to Colorado to return to her beloved mountains where she got married and spent weekends hiking and skiing. She worked at a small pediatric clinic in underserved Southern Colorado for 5 years. After her son was born, she took a job in the Denver Metro, shortly thereafter family events + COVID lured her little family back east to be near her husband’s family.
Diana has lived in Fishtown with her husband, toddler son, 2 dogs, and 2 cats for the last year. While working for a pediatric office in the suburbs, Diana chose Center City Pediatrics for her own son as it’s only a few blocks from home! One thing led to another and Diana is so excited to be joining the beloved provider team at CCP that has provided such amazing care for her little guy who had a medically complicated infancy.
While not seeing patients or chasing around the tiny zoo she has at home – Diana can be found enjoying the beach, hot yoga, CrossFit, and roaming local dog parks.
Diana loves seeing patients of all ages but particularly enjoys toddlers, teens, and those more medically or behaviorally complex. She loves getting to know her patient families, watching her patients grow and develop, and aiding parents in any way she can as they navigate the crazy days of raising littles. She strongly believes in the importance of mental health as well as physical, and overcoming the obstacles that social and economic barriers can create in seeking quality care. Diana can’t wait to get to know each of you and is so honored to be a part of your journey!
