Do you worry about how to help your child get through the teen years and make good decisions?
Are you concerned about your teen’s behaviors, moods, stresses?
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by dealing with your teen’s school and social pressures?
Parenting teens can be challenging as we watch our children dealing with the stresses of this time. The fast paced interactions of the social media world along with school expectations and access to a flood of on-line information and ideas have come together to make a complex stage all the more challenging.
This Parent Discussion class offers parents an opportunity to talk about their concerns in a supportive small group setting and learn strategies to help them cope with their teens’ challenges (including mindfulness parenting skills as well as parenting suggestions). The series is facilitated by Dr. Sherry Pomerantz.
As a psychologist in private practice, Sherry Pomerantz has worked with children, adolescents, young adults and their families for over 25 years. Her particular interests include helping those with eating disorders and body image concerns; adolescent and emerging adult social-emotional development; family relationships; and providing parenting support and coaching. She has offices in Bala Cynwyd and Rosemont. Dr. Pomerantz received her PhD from Temple University and completed post-doctoral family therapy training. She has presented in numerous school and organizational settings to both parents and students on a variety of topics, including body image, recognizing eating disorders, parenting in the digital age, and parent-teen communication.
