Happy Thanksgiving

In celebration of the holiday, our Bala Cynwyd and Fishtown locations will be closed on Friday, 11/24. South Street will be open and available for sick visit appointments as well as nurse triage. We will have regular weekend hours.

We count you among those who we are so grateful for during this season. Thank you for choosing our family to care for yours, for allowing us to do what we love and for your ongoing support of our entire team.

Have a safe, happy and healthy holiday!

RSV Immunization Supply Issues Continue

We’ve heard from many of you inquiring as to the availability of Beyfortus (Nirsevimab) for infants less than 8 months of age and older infants who are at high risk for RSV complications.

As reported last month, procurement of the immunization has been challenging for practices nationwide. Supply shortages and delayed shipments continue to hamper our efforts to offer the treatment to all families.

We are following the prioritization protocol set forth by the AAP, and are using our very limited supply to immunize our most medically fragile patients, including those with heart/lung disease or congenital airway disorders, those that arrived prematurely and others who are immunocompromised. If your child meets these eligibility standards, you should have already received a call prompting you to schedule your visit. If you have yet to reply to our outreach, we urge you to do so as soon as possible.

For others, there remains a possibility that we will not be able to administer doses this season. We will, however, continue to work with the manufacturer and do our best to secure additional doses. We will share details as they become available, via future newsletters and our social media pages.

Billing Statements Decoded for Routine, Annual Visits

We often liken insurance statements to grocery store receipts – each service, procedure, lab and screening is itemized and billed separately. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand which portion is being reimbursed by your carrier and which is your responsibility. Our Billing Department fields a lot of questions about statements, often specific to confusion around well-visit appointments.

It is common for children to be treated for a condition beyond the scope of “routine” visit services, even during their annual, preventative well check. For example, discussion of ADHD, complications from premature birth, ear infections, asthma management or any other complex or acute medical issue do not qualify as “routine care” by insurance carrier definition. As such, insurance companies require us to both document and bill these treatments separately. These fees are in addition to the usual “well visit” fee, and often result in a bill being sent to you.

Have more questions about billing? Check out the FAQs on our website or contact our Billing Department for more information.

New Space at Bala? We Need It!

We are so excited to announce completion of the Bala Cynwyd office’s construction project! This work includes upgraded facilities for our staff as well as 3 new exam rooms for our families. We now have 9 rooms available to care for your children.

This new space will not only allow us to room you more quickly upon your arrival, but will also give us space to bring additional providers to Bala Cynwyd. Stay tuned for more details later this year!

Haven’t visited us since the work started? Enjoy this behind-the scenes look!

School Is Back In Session!

In-person parent education workshops are in full swing at both our South Street and *Bala Cynwyd locations. Advanced registration is required for all classes. You do not need to be a patient of practice to join! Visit our website for details, facilitator bios and registration links.
