Fishtown Open House – September 23!
Another cold and flu season is upon us, alongside changing guidance from the CDC in respect to COVID protocols. Want to know how we’re working to protect our families, staff and community? Read on!
Visiting our office? Please familiarize yourself with our current appointment policies before you come. These include:
· Which sick appointments require special treatment as an “isolation visit”
· When a wellness check will need to be rescheduled due to infection or exposure
· What measures we’re taking to keep all our visitors safe
Looking for the updated COVID booster? The national shipment delays slowed us down, but we finally have inventory at all locations. If you have a weekday well visit or flu shot appointment already scheduled, you can receive the booster at that same time. Just let the reception team know when you arrive and they will update your chart. You do not need to call in advance. Otherwise, please contact your preferred location by phone to schedule a nurse visit. We are not currently offering the booster on weekends.
Not sure if you should mask? Our appointment policies do outline when masks are required in our offices. Otherwise, they are optional for all well visits. Of course, our staff will always mask at your request. Do not hesitate to ask your medical assistant when you are roomed. Currently, masks are still required for all classes and parent education workshops.
What about testing? We recommend testing whenever qualifying symptoms are present, as outlined in our appointment policies, as well as in the event of an exposure. Home tests are a great way to receive results quickly, and families can currently receive up to 4 per household for free. Order yours today.
Still need more COVID info? In her latest video, Nurse Julie discusses the updated protocols; including isolation guidelines, how to treat a child who has tested positive and the new vaccines: Nurse Julie Talks COVID.
Schedule Your Flu Shot Appointment Today!
Getting the annual vaccine is the best way to protect your child from the flu. While flu shots are not meant to entirely prevent the flu, as the new CDC campaign promises, the vaccine should transform it “from WILD to MILD!”
Flu shots are now available to all children visiting our offices for their annual well appointments. For those who don’t already have an appointment scheduled during the fall/winter seasons, we have flu vaccine specific nurse visits available.
Once again this year, you can self-schedule these appointments on our website. You will also find additional resources there to prepare you for your flu shot visit.
Want a COVID vaccine or booster at the same time as the flu shot? Just let our reception team know when you arrive for your appointment!
New RSV Preventative Treatment Is Coming
We’ve heard from many of you inquiring as to the availability of Beyfortus (Nirsevimab) for all infants less than 8 months of age and older infants who are at high risk for RSV complications. We are planning to offer this new preventative immunization, which has been shown to reduce the risk of hospitalization for infants over 65%, at all locations beginning later this month.
If your child qualifies, you will receive an email in the weeks ahead with details about scheduling an appointment. In the interim, please follow our social media accounts for updated information. For those that have an upcoming visit scheduled, you can also discuss eligibility with your provider.
Please note that many insurance companies have not yet determined the extent to which this treatment will be covered. We will work with you, in whatever way possible, to assure that your child gets the immunization, but please familiarize yourself with the details of your plan in advance of your appointment.
Early Access Now Available at ALL Locations!
Early Access is now available at all 3 locations! Early Access allows you to self-schedule weekday morning appointments overnight, while our office is closed.
