Newborn babies are generally covered under their mother’s health insurance policy for the baby’s first 31 days of life for inpatient hospital settings only.
Please call your insurance company to add the new baby to your plan. Once you receive the child’s birth certificate/social security card, present this to your HR dept or the carrier directly to ensure the child is a dependent on the policy.
The child must be added retroactive to their date of birth to ensure all claims to Center City Pediatrics are payable by the insurance.
If you are enrolled in a state program, please contact your case worker immediately. The child should have the yellow access card that distinguishes insurance on file for the pt.
HMO plans will require Center City Pediatrics to appear as you child’s “Primary Care Provider” (PCP). Feel free to call the billing dept to obtain the insurance provider number to provide to your insurance company that will populate CCP (and the correct location).
If you have an Aetna HMO plan, please make sure you have the correct location selected as your child’s PCP because these 2 offices have their own capitated radiology, labs and physical therapy locations if ever needed.
At your baby’s 1 Month Well Child Check you MUST have proof that you have obtained the baby’s insurance coverage. The insurance card MUST be presented at this visit. If you do not have this ID card at the time of the 1 month visit, we will ask you either to reschedule or remit a deposit at the time of service (which could possibly be reimbursed once insurance is reinstated).
We strive to protect you from any financial hardships associated with the early medical care of your new child. Please carry your child’s insurance card to all appointments and notify us of any changes to your coverage. The child is allowed 6 well visits the first year of life, these include: Newborn well visit, 1 month well visit, 2 month well visit, 4 month well visit, 6 month well visit, 9 month well visit
ALL other visits are considered office visits, regardless if the provider requests the child to come back in to the office for a follow up; copay/deductibles may be applied.
Feel free to contact the billing dept Mon – Fri 8am to 4pm with any questions/concerns.
