It’s Time…Flu Vaccine Appointments Are Open!
Getting an annual flu vaccine is the best way to protect your child from the flu. Flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed school, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.
Have a fall/winter well visit already scheduled for your child? You are all set! Simply ask the receptionist when you arrive to have their flu shot administered during their visit.
Don’t have an appointment scheduled during that time? As in past years, you can self-schedule a specialized flu shot appointment for your child(ren) using the link on our website. This page also includes important details about our flu shot appointments, FAQs and more. You will find the scheduling link at the bottom of that page.
Please note that if you schedule a flu specific appointment, you will receive an email/text in the days before your visit asking you to check-in. This check-in will include a brief questionnaire that must be completed before your child can receive the flu shot. Completing it in advance of your appointment will streamline your visit and reduce the amount of time spent in our office.
Flu shots are particularly important for kids under 5 and those with asthma or other chronic health problems. Get this one crossed off your to-do list early. Schedule your appointment today!
We know many of you are interested in getting your child’s COVID vaccine at the same time as the flu. However, we do not have COVID inventory at this time. We are closely watching the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to determine how best to protect our patients in the months ahead. Per their latest guidelines, we intend to recommend an initial COVID series for kids 6 months-2 years old. We will be ordering the Moderna vaccine, which is the only one with current authorization, for this use. We will also recommend boosters for some children, after consultation with their provider. We do hope to be able to administer boosters in our office for children less than 4 years when indicated. We are also currently exploring how to best obtain booster shots for older children that need one. Additionally, due to lack of clarity from insurers on their COVID Vaccine reimbursement policy, we will require a signed consent before administration stating that the cost will be covered by the family/guardian in the event that their insurance company denies coverage. We appreciate your understanding.
Speech & Language Screenings Coming This Fall!
We are excited to offer free screenings for pediatric language and speech sounds disorders at our South Street office this fall, in partnership with The Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU).
Screenings are available to children between the ages of birth and 21 years, in 30-minute increments on 3 different days in October. Spaces are limited and advanced registration is required on our website. No walk-ins can be accommodated.
Speech and language screenings will be conducted by graduate students who are currently training in the SLP Master’s program. Each screening will be supervised 100% of the time by TJU faculty members who are fully licensed speech-language pathologists.
Upon completion of each child’s screening, there will be time allotted for family education on speech and language development, where graduate students and faculty would be happy to answer any questions and provide referral recommendations as necessary.
Everyone in the community is welcome to participate; you do not need to be a patient of Center City Pediatrics to join!

Introducing Integrative Behavioral Health Services!
We are so excited to now provide integrative behavioral health services!
What does that mean for your family?
If your child is having mental health or behavioral health concerns, your provider can now enroll you in this program. After confirming that your insurance will cover this service (which most do!), our Behavioral Health Care Manager, Mary Clayton, LSW, will contact you directly. She will provide brief, virtual counseling and care coordination in consultation with both your provider and a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist.
With the ever-growing number of kids needing these kinds of services and a serious shortage of specialists in our community, we are hopeful that this convenient service will help bridge the gap.

Need Forms?!
The time for school, day care and early/fall season sports forms is upon us.
Remember, we cannot accept forms by email. You must submit your form on our website. This will guarantee that your request is routed to the proper team for processing – and will allow you to pay your form fee online, which will eliminate delays in completion. Please be certain to complete any parent sections of the form prior to uploading it.
Just need an immunization record or copies of your child’s visit summaries? You can print these from home anytime, directly from your child’s Follow My Health account. This will save you the time and expense of having our office provide them! Sign up or login on our website.
